Phi Alpha Theta Regional Conference

The Department of History at Rollins College will host the 2012 Florida Regional Conference on Saturday, 14 April 2012. The conference theme will be "Common Voice, Extraordinary Lives." We hope to highlight the one hundred and twenty-fifth anniversary of Eatonville, Florida, the oldest incorporated African-American municipality in the United States. Conference papers are encouraged, but not required, to focus on this theme. The Lewanzer Lassiter Prize will be awarded for the outstanding paper exploring identity, agency, and community related to the African-American experience. We will present six additonal prizes for the top papers, two for graduate students and four for undergraduates.

The plenary sessions will be held in the Galloway Room of the Mills Memorial Building, located at the center of the Rollins Campus. Please follow the links to submit a paper proposal and to register for the conference. You may also find additional information about local accommodations and attractions to enrich your stay in Winter Park.
