Key Dates and timeline: (working backwards)

September 17 – 21 Festival

Some of the special events during the festival will include:

Thursday September 18 is a Popcorn Flick night – in Shady Park (not Central Park). The film is “The Color Purple” and it looks like GPFF will partner with the Enzian and be the co-host.

Thursday September 18 is also the Downtown Arts District’s Third Thursday and the GPFF will (hopefully) be a centerpiece of that. We are negotiating to have DMAC be the downtown venue and Avalon Island art gallery also is interested a peace-related show there as well.

Sunday September 21 is the UN International Day of Peace. On this day the Interfaith Council of Central Florida is planning to organize a panel on the environment (as they did the Darfur panel last year) and a multi-denominational tree-planting event in Winter Park. We are also planning to do a GPFF street fair for peace and environmental sustainability, in conjunction with Bullfish and other local businesses. Heather has already spoken to Chip Weston about this and he was excited about the idea.

TBD – Reception for GPFF-OCPS Service Learning Peace Art exhibit at City Hall. (K-12 art project. Last year, 72 public schools participated).

End of Labor Day week or week of 9/8 – “preview party” at Bay 2 (Virginia & Mills). Bay 2 may also have a “peace art” exhibit in the space for the month of September.

September 2 or 3 catalogs delivered (ideally) – note, this depends on programming and design/layout/printing schedules.

September 3 until festival catalogs distributed to local businesses and stores
