Prague: Charles Bridge.  The Little Quarter Side Tower

The Mala Strana Towers of Charles Bridge

Charles Bridge spans the Vltava river, joining the Old Town with the Little Quarter. It was built built in 1357 on the order of Charles IV by Peter Parler, Prague's most famous architect,  to replace the old Judith Bridge. The photo shows the old Judith Bridge Tower (1158) on the left, and the Little Quarter Tower on the right. In the background are the dome and the bell tower of the baroque St. Nicholas Church designed by the father and son team of Christoph and Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer.
