The Value of an active participatory process is in your hands
[first read over this seven step process]
The goal is to turn in a document written by everyone in the group based on all of you practicing informal speaking so that you verbally clarify what you say.
procedures
A). analyze the meaning and implications of the appropriate quote or selected passage provided:
B). before finishing the free writing (five minutes) review what you have written and summarize the paragraph in a sentence or two.
C). create a group of three people:
D). divide the work of the three as follows allowing five minutes for each person to play all of these three roles:
E). explain aloud, verbally to the class what the three of you agree on and disagree on with respect to the descriptions, explanations, or interpretations of the material found in the books, lectures, or your reading, & research.
F). finish 1) ON ONE SHEET OF PAPER-- write the three names and record the responses of each member so that at the end of the 12 minute period your group produces one to two pages of written work representing the verbatim statements of each member of the group written by another member of the group. Identify the writing and ideas of each person as their roles change in the group.
___ finish 2) by writing together create a reflection of what your heard (four minutes) turning in your group's written statement with the names of each person; have each recorder identify the "speaker" and the listener during each of the three segments of the activity.
G). grading or evaluating your performance is based on the relation of four criteria:
- 1 -- how accurately you interpret the meaning of the selection. 50%
- 2 -- how you specifically tie in the texts, reading, & lectures. 20%
- 3 -- what conflicts & consensus you explain in the group. 20%
- 4 -- verbally presenting your writing to the class. 10%
